First Transfer Window Round-up - Summer 2012

Eden Hazard is still confusing everybody with stories being leaked firstly saying he wants to play in blue, then saying he wants to play in Manchester.  Whilst this suggests Manchester City, many Manchester United fans are still hopeful he will join a team who play in red. Another player linked with the red side of Manchester is Everton’s Leighton Baines. Rumours suggest the clubs have already been in contact and Manchester United have bid around £12m. Newcastle will continue their shopping on the continent, as they approach French champions Montpellier for central defender and captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, and return to Lille for defender Mathieu Debuchy. Chelsea‘s Champions League win means they will have much more clout in this transfer window. Read more..

Transfer Update | Centre Back? Not Half.

As it had just started to feel like the January transfer window was getting going, Everton announced the signing of Darron Gibson from Manchester United and suddenly people are uninterested again. The Gary Cahill saga has overtaken the Carlos Tevez affair, as Sky Sports News look to reduce their viewing figures even further, and managers continue to lie about never having heard of the players they’re linked with. “Ganso? I have never heard of him” quipped Harry Redknapp, though we are led to believe that he was being serious. Who needs Ganso when you have Jake Livermore? Seriously. Cahill is just one of a number of centre backs who are likely to be on the Read more..

This January Transfer Window: Paris Sounds Good

There aren’t many transfer rumours lately that aren’t related in some roundabout way to Paris Saint-Germain. We’ve already covered the possible transfer of Leandro Damiao, and the long list of European teams who are hoping to sign him – a list which includes PSG. But the transfer of Damiao to France will depend on whether or not PSG can sign Hulk from Porto, who is also wanted by Chelsea, or if they can lure Alexandre Pato from AC Milan. At the moment, it looks like the latter story has the most truth to it, as Pato is thought to relish the chance to join a club on the way up in which he can be Read more..

Leandro Damiao Interests European Sides

The January Transfer Window - A Return to Madness

“I think we need a solid centre back, a creative midfielder, and a striker to put away those chances we keep missing.” With many teams wanting the same thing from the transfer market, it’ll be interesting to see who will be the most successful in the often unpredictable January transfer window. Unpredictable, unless you’re one of those tabloid newspapers who report every transfer rumour conceivable, and many which aren’t, so then when the transfer goes through you can say “As WE reported LAST WEEK!!“. Our favourite saga by far, that of Carlos Tevez, will continue this January, as he seeks a return to football after being banished by Roberto Mancini after refusing to warm up.  AC Read more..

Arsenal Sign Jadson to Help Rebuild Midfield

How can a 27 year old Brazilian who has played in the Ukranian Premier League for 7 seasons be the new Cesc Fabregas?  Jadson, who won a belated first cap for Brazil earlier this year, is lined up to join Arsenal as they attempt to secure the signing of a talented midfielder to go part of the way to replacing Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas, who are bound for Manchester City and Barcelona respectively.  Although he is being brought in primarily to replace the Spaniard’s guile, creativity, and most importantly, his assists in midfield, it’s surely too simplistic to label him the new Fabregas. His age is the first clue that he isn’t a like for Read more..

Blackburn Rovers Transfer Rumours, Or Lack Of...

Since the Venky’s takeover, there has been much speculation about the financial muscle Blackburn Rovers might have when it comes to attracting players to the club.  Can they compete with the likes of Spurs and Liverpool for the standard of player they need to take them to the European qualification they seek?  Or should the club, who were one of many teams in a tight relegation battle last season, be setting their sights merely on survival?  So far they haven’t ruffled any feathers. No one really knows how much Venky’s are willing to pay out in transfer fees, even compared with teams of similar stature such as Sunderland and Aston Villa, they haven’t really made Read more..

They've got Gervinho? Arsenal Summer Transfers

Johan Djourou recently claimed that Arsenal “will just go crazy and win everything” due to the potential they have in the squad, which is apparently yet to be realised. Djourou was one of a small number of Arsenal players who might have established a long term future for himself at the club, after a solid enough season coming back from injury. They might get a step closer to this crazy goal during the summer transfer window, if they can spend some big money, on the right players. Gervinho, who is rumoured to be on his way to the Emirates from French Ligue 1 champions Lille, looks like a good start to the summer spending, as Read more..
